The year was 1987 and these were the tunes

As perfectly written by Lefty - I thought why retype when I can use my new magic wand that my wife gave me for my birthday. She's glad to see I'm using it for something.

Let's get some comments going on this tape - download and let us know what you think.

WHFS Party Weekend 1990 style and more...

First of the Lefty collection - Thanks Lefty for the run down of songs and description of what we have here.

Track 5 (1990) - 7:06
Wild Weekend by The Rockin' Rebels
Until the Weekend by Nick Lowe
Party Weekend by Joe King Carrasco

From Weasel's 1990 afternoon show. This is great since I had already moved to FL when this aired. This is a variation of the Freaky Friday set with the 1963 version of "Wild Weekend" rather than the more common NRBQ version we heard so ofter in earlier years.

Party Weekend 1990 style

Track 1(1983) - 4:28
"Bob's Theme"
Bob used to play these two songs to start his early morning show: a Zydeco song followed by a somewhat Hawaiian-themed acoustic number.

"Lefty" says "I don't know the artists or titles, but would love to find out some day". Well Lefty, hopefully the knowledgeable music heads here on this site can help out.

"Bob's Theme"

Track 2 (1983) - 4:22
Take a walk on the Kosher side by Gefilte Joe and the Fish
Joe Lewis school of Elocution by the Rhino Brothers

This short set is followed up by Weasel

Two odd songs

Please please please, leave comments and thank Lefty for keeping WHFS alive!

More than a year later...

...I have received more WHFS goodies - thanks "Lefty", you know who you are. These were sent to me already dubbed onto CD so I ripped them to the computer today, the day I got them and now will start the posting process.

"Lefty" has done a super job documenting the songs and artists along with the DJ spinning the tunes. Let's give it up for "Lefty" as he's put a lot of work into these few tapes as well as documenting the entire Jeff M collection - stay tuned for that.

Of the two CD's I received today, one is labeled 1987 and the other is 1983 - 1990 odds. The latter contains about 15 minutes of 5 short sets including 7 minutes of Party Weekend while the 1987 CD includes two sides, one 31:28 and the other a solid 43:50 minutes featuring 12 songs from Billy Bragg, the Bo Deans to The Smiths and Violet Femmes. This is going in my car tomorrow without a doubt!

Check out the next post for the first of this set- Party Weekend from 1990.

Enjoy!!!!
