Classic WHFS when it was 102.3 on Cordell Ave in Bethesda

Because of the new found interest thanks to a post by Mike Yellin on the Facebook group "You know you grew up in Rockville, Maryland if you..." I have started updating my WHFS blog again and this time adding more streaming audio so you can listen and enjoy the tunes and dj's right from the site.

WHFS with dj Weasel at the helm this 20th day of April in the year 1983.

Party Weekend Tape!

Surprise Surprise - I found a tape I had recorded onto my computer in January but never uploaded it. I know what happened is I never finished writing the description then must have forgot about it and moved to another recording.

Enjoy!

The tape starts off with:

Joe King and the Crowns - It’s a Party, Party Party Weekend.
…Three dedications to Tim Deegan, not one, not two but three…

Anyone know Tim Deegan from Annapolis? Well, thanks to the Internet – maybe this is Tim Deegan www.livestrong.com/profile/tdeegan. If anyone wants to send him this way I’m sure he’ll get a kick of hearing Weasel play a Party Weekend dedication to him.

Here I went again with the pause button - I cut Weasel off soon after Party Weekend.
We pick up a week later on Throbbing Thursday –

The Stranglers – Skin Deep
Meat Puppets – Up on the Sun
The Doors - Mine Eyes Have Seen You
Haircut 100 – Love plus One
Midnight Oil - Minutes to Midnight
7 before 2 O’clock, It’s Throbbing Thursday

Coors Light commercial

Weasel playing some Rock ‘n Roll…

Listen to Weasel banter with himself talking about joining him and Damien at Jack’s Corn Beef with Beyond Words. Need to listen to this! What was Weasel doing in that parking lot?

Hall & Oates - Live at the Apollo Theater – Every Time You Go Away
Station break –

English Beat – I Confess
The Specials - Friday Night, Saturday Morning (tailing to the end)

1987 Thanksgiving Day with Weasel uninterrupted

1987 Thanksgiving Day with Weasel uninterrupted

This tape has almost 13 songs with Royal Court tailing at the end. One of my most complete recordings with four awesome breaks by Weasel. What was I doing recording WHFS on Thanksgiving Day in 1987? Let's see, I was 22 and living at home. I can hear my Mom now "IT'S DINNER TIME, GLENN". Well, I bet she was a bit more polite on T-Day then normal days.
Enjoy!

U2 – Sweetest thing
The Jam - The Bitterest Pill (I Ever Had to Swallow)
Weasel recap
Pete Wiley – It’s sinful
Paul Carrack - Every time you walk into the room
The Smithereens – Strangers when we meet
Metal as Anything - Live it up
The Kane Gang – Motortown
It’s 1:35 on Throbbing Thursday
Weasel playing some Rock & Roll

(It’s those bodacious) BoDeans – Only Love
The Beatles – Every little thing
Squeeze – Tough Love
Elvis Costello – New Amsterdam
More from Weasel
Crowded House - Don't Dream It's Over
99.1 WHFS (gotta hear this music recap!)
Royal Court of China - It's all changed

The original post from 2008 had a download URL. The Megaupload site has been shutdown so I am now streaming the historical and educational material via WMA. This was loaded Nov. 23, 2013

Enjoy and please let me know what you think and leave a comment!
