This blog is dedicated to those over 40 that listened to WHFS back in the 80's. Throughout the 80's I recorded WHFS to cassette, mostly of 99.1 & some 102.3. Included on most recordings are the infamous djs of WHFS, Weasel, Damian, Tom T, Bob, Dave Issing, Neci, Susan, Janet & others. I also have tapes of Rock over London, & WRVU - 91 Rock, student radio from Vandy in Nashville & even some Rock of the 90's from WAVA Sunday nights. Enjoy!

Thanks for sharing some of your tapes. I only lived in Maryland for two years and was quite confused as an 18-year-old when I began listening to WHFS. It was glorious and felt like something from another planet. Listening today it doesn't seem all that weird, but it sure did back then. I eventually became music director for a large campus radio station in 1985 and my boundries expanded greatly, but WHFS was the first to challenge my musical ideas (first time I ever heard Joy Division!).
I also loved hearing Damien and Weasel. Those two remain voices I'll never forget.
Thanks! monkey
